Sylvester Stallone: “Life is Cyclical”

In the boxing sequel “Creed II”, Sylvester Stallone is confronted several times with his “Rocky” past. There will also be a reunion with Dolph Lundgren, the Russian from “Rocky IV”.

The story in brief: after Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) helped Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan), the son of his former rival and deceased friend Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), to establish himself as a young boxer and fought against his own severe cancer himself, the two take the next step in Adonis’ career – and they do it as master and student. This time, “Donnie” meets the former Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son. Rocky warns Adonis about the competition, but Adonis has to live up to his father's legacy: “I really believe that life is cyclical”, says actor, producer and co-author Sylvester Stallone. "While working on the ‘Creed II’ story, I thought of the sins of the fathers. Adonis is not the only son who has to carry his father’s legacy on his shoulders. I was dealing with new questions: What if Ivan Drago also had a son? What legacy would he have to bear?” The answer so far: “Creed II” skilfully continues the “Rocky” series.
