Samuel L. Jackson: “I Thought It Would be Funny”

“Pulp Fiction” star Samuel L. Jackson says that the prospect of acting with Ryan Reynolds is what compelled him to work on “The Hitman’s Bodyguard.”

“Ryan was already signed up and when I came into the game, it made sense somehow. I thought it would be funny. I always liked to see Ryan acting, I knew him personally and liked him, so I thought it would be interesting,” says Samuel L. Jackson. The second reason for saying yes was the opportunity to collaborate with Salma Hayek, who plays Sonia, his ice-cool wife. "Sonia and my character Kincaid are related souls that are deeply connected physically and spiritually. Kincaid can totally trust her and talk about anything,” Jackson notes. “Sonia loves Kincaid despite his many flaws – Kincaid has learned about romance from her, so he gives Bryce love tips, as unlikely as it sounds. Salma and I are friends, so the roles were very easy for us. Getting her was a coup for the film and everyone involved.”
