Gurinder Chadha: “Springsteen Songs Are Like Little Movies”

The British melodrama “Blinded By The Light” sees a young man with Pakistani roots find his own voice and identity in the 1980s with the help of Bruce Springsteen’s music.

“Blinded by the Light” director Gurinder Chadha still remembers discovering Bruce Springsteen in her youth: “I used to work at a Harrods record store on Saturdays when I was a student. I saw his first album ‘Born to Run’ there and I bought it for two pounds. Back home, I thought ‘wow’. I loved that sound. Springsteen songs are like little movies, very cinematic, stories with a broad impact”.
