“Five Feet Apart”: Does Love Always Have to be Physical?

Crazy and absurd: in the love film “Five Feet Apart”, two teenagers in love are not allowed to touch each other – let alone kiss.

Haley Lu Richardson (“The Edge of Seventeen”) and Cole Sprouse bring to life the unforgettable characters of Stella and Will, whose romance proves the sceptics wrong. Even if the two figures suffer from cystic fibrosis, they could not be more opposite: “I like that the story asks the question, ‘What does love look like?’, says Riverdale star Cole Sprouse. “For us, love has to do with all the physical sensations. It’s second nature to us. But does love always have to be physical? Can what we expect from falling in love – touch and physical closeness – be replaced by something else?"
