A City Full of Fraud, Deceit and Violence

“Suburbicon” marks a long-planned collaboration between George Clooney as director and the Coen brothers as scriptwriters. It’s a vicious satire of suburban 1950s life, featuring Matt Damon and Julianne Moore.

Suburbicon is a peaceful, idyllic suburban community with affordable houses and trimmed lawns... the perfect place to start a family and raise children. That's exactly what the Lodge family does in the summer of 1959. But the tranquil surface of the American dream soon gives way to a disturbing reality, when husband and father Gardner Lodge (Matt Damon) suddenly has to recognise the dark side of the small town and deal with fraud, deceit, and violence. “Every time I act in one of my directing projects, I hate it”, says George Clooney, who only (!) directs here. “But I enjoyed the process of filmmaking more than with any previous film. Right from the beginning, everyone involved gave their very best”.
