Three Good Reasons for “Mary Poppins Returns”

I STORY: “Mary Poppins Returns” is inspired by a wealth of material from the seven books that PL Travers wrote but which were never adapted for the big screen.

II DIRECTOR: The director is the musical specialist Rob Marshall (“Chicago”), who from the very start takes us to the wonderful London of yesteryear.

III THE CAST: Emily Blunt shines as an almost-perfect nanny with unique magical abilities that can turn almost any everyday situation into a fantastic adventure. Mr Banks is played by Ben Whishaw, with Emily Mortimer appearing as Jane Banks and Julie Walters as Ellen. Oscar winner Colin Firth shines as William Weatherall Wilkins of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank, as does three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin Topsy.
